Taroudant → Tata

  • Cross Anti-Atlas via Igherm pass
  • Visit fortified granary of Ida ou Kensous
  • Sleep in pre-Saharan oasis of Tata

Tata → Chegaga

  • Visit Tata
  • Take desert route from Tata to Foum Z’guid
  • Take track to Chegaga
  • Sunset camel ride
  • Night under canvas, bivouacking in the dunes

Chegaga → Tafraout, fief of the Aït Kebbach (Kem-Kem plateau)

  • Sunrise over the dunes
  • Take desert track, across Iriki Salt Flats to Mhamid
  • Tamegroute (centre of pottery production)
  • Take another desert track via Aferdou (home to many women weavers)
  • Night under canvas, bivouacking in Tafraout, fief of the Aït Kebbach

Tafraout → Merzouga
(Erg Chebbi)

  • Take desert track to Erg Chebbi
  • Meharee (camel ride) across the dunes
  • Night under canvas, bivouacking in the dunes

Merzouga (Erg Chebbi)

  • Bivouac breakfast
  • Visit Rissani souk (one of the busiest in the entire Moroccan desert)
  • Visit Cité d’Orion – contemporary architecture by Hans Vogt, in the desert near Erfoud
  • Sleep in Merzouga, lodging with a family of women weavers

Merzouga → Taroudant

  • Return to Taroudant via Alnif (a rich fossil site)
  • Drâa Valley
  • Visit Tamnougalt Kasbah
  • Lunch in oasis
  • Arrive in Taroudant late in the evening

Tours run from October 1 to May 31 – summers are just too hot. Within that period, you are free to pick the dates that suit you.
A down payment of 50% of the total expedition price is payable at the time of reservation, the remainder on departure.
Price includes accommodation, food and transport.
