Rooms with running water feature a Tadelakht wall coating – a lime-based satin-finish plaster, traditionally reserved for the hammams of the great houses of Marrakech.
We favour a neutral, sand-coloured decor. Floors are surfaced with locally manufactured lacquered tiles. Tables are marble or zellij-topped mosaic from Fez.
All household wastewater that is not sewage is reused to water the garden. Solar water heaters, coupled with heat pumps, save on electricity bills by harnessing the energy of the sun.
A closed-loop water system delivers hot water on demand, even to taps at the other end of the house.
The hammams (steam baths) are traditionally built, usually near the pool house so as to share changing facilities, and heated with firewood.
